Dawes County Agencies
United Way of Western Nebraska serving Dawes County is partnering with two agencies for 2017-2018 that focus on better health.
Better Health
CAPstone
CAPstone is a safe, child friendly environment where children who have been abused or neglected can be heard and supported. Children with allegations of abuse are interviewed at CAPstone by a trained forensic interviewer, the interview is recorded, so child victims do not have to repeat their story and be re-traumatized by retelling their story multiple times. CAPstone serves the eleven counties in the Panhandle of Nebraska and has three satellite offices located in Alliance, Sidney and Alliance. CAPstone offers advocacy services to child victims and their non-offending family members. The advocacy services provided are on-going support, education, court school, medical evaluations and referrals for community services. CAPstone also provides referrals for child victims and non-offending caregivers to receive counseling and mental health evaluations. Our goals are to reduce the trauma suffered by a child during an investigation; to increase successful prosecution of the child abusers; and to promote healing for child victims and their non-offending caregivers.
