United Way Member Agencies are selected through a budget and allocations process by a group of 120 community volunteers. These volunteers spend many hours visiting the agencies and observing how they serve the community. They also examine the agency's budgets and operating practices. Once they've gathered their information, all of the volunteers meet and determine which agencies will be funded. The allocations for these agencies come from the Campaign funds that were raised in the previous year. The volunteers have a passion for this budget and allocations process and ensuring that the agencies receive the funding that they need to better serve the community. If you are interested in serving in the budget and allocations process or for more information on becoming a United Way of Western Nebraska Agency, please contact the United Way office at 635-2522.
